Alan Sheppard, Ph.D. serves as the Acting Dean of the School of Education. He has extensive experience in higher education leadership serving as Dean, Provost and Vice President at multiple institutions. Dr. Sheppard also has an impressive record of public service having served in both the Carter and Clinton Administrations, and as a consultant to public schools, community-based agencies, educational institutions, professional organizations, state agencies, and federal agencies including the U.S. Department of Education, and the Department of Labor. He is a prolific writer in the areas of adult education/gerontology, professional development/teacher education, and special needs education.
